Staying hydrated will aid in the elimination of waste from the body, this can aid in weight loss. It is also good to remember water isn’t our way to get fluids in, fruits and vegetables are a great source.

How to increase your fluid intake? Make a conscious better to consume more fruit and vegetables with higher water content. Increasing how much water you drink can be difficult. Get a huge water bottle, so it does not need to be refilled during the day. Add flavour to your water, sometimes I infuse ginger, lemon, mint, cucumber, and other fruits in my water, just as a way to get me to drink more.

How much water should you drink?

Most people try to follow the 8-Glass rule (64 oz).

While, The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine determined that adequate daily fluid intake is:

  • About 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids for men

  • About 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids a day for women

These recommendations cover fluids from water, other beverages, and food. About 20 percent of daily fluid intake usually comes from food and the rest from drinks.

I say, it depends on how much exercise you get daily, how much you weigh, are you trying to lose or maintain your weight? You should drink at least 64oz of water, then depending on how your body feels, drink more, if you workout drink more.

DO I have too many water bottles?

Personally, when I drink more water, helps with feeling fatigue, nausea, bloating, sleepiness, boosts metabolism, etc. I aim to drink 73 oz of water, I recently got a bottle with that capacity, so I don’t have to refill. Before that, my largest bottle was 25 oz, and sometimes I would just be lazy to keep refilling it throughout the day. The bonus of water consumption is, it keeps you feeling full, so you crave less, and avoid the urges to snack.

Make sure your plastic bottles are BPA free, I usually opt for a glass bottle when I'm home, BPA Free plastic bottle for the gym and when I am running errands, long days I my s'well bottle to keep my water at room temperature.
